I will be adding more videos to my list as I include more videos to my library.

| Basic Yoga by the American Yoga Association | |
| This video has a complete 30-minute routine which I find easier to fit into my schedule than the longer videos. The sound quality is not very good and a couple of the poses they do are questionable. During the warm-up they do complete neck circles which are not advised anymore. You should only turn your neck in a semi-circle; not around to the back. The shoulder stand should only be done very slowly and gently if at all by beginners. | |
Yoga For Flexibility with Linda Arkin
| |
| I like this video alot. It is a very good video to improve flexibility. It is about 40 minutes long which is a good length to do at one time. | |
Yoga For Relaxation and Rejuvenation with Linda Arkin
| |
| I like this video too. It is very good; nice and relaxing. Very good for beginners. It is about 40 minutes long which is a good length to do at one time. | |
Yoga For Strength with Linda Arkin
| |
| This is a very good video, too; and not too hard for beginners. It is about 40 minutes long which is a good length to do at one time. | |
| Yoga Natural Body Tune-Up with Linda Arkin | |
| I don't like this video as much as the other ones with Linda Arkin. This one is a collection of many asanas put together to make a complete workout. Be careful of the neck circles; don't circle backwards as this is now accepted as bad for the neck. It is about 40 minutes long. | |
Denise Austin Yoga Essentials
| |
| This is one of my favorites. The video is broken into 4 sections, so you can do which ever ones or how many sections you want. But the 4 sections total only 40 minutes which isn't too long; I usually do the whole video when I do it. Denise is an exercise physiologist so I feel confident that the postures she does and the manner she does them are not harmful in any way; which I do wonder about with some postures, especially for beginners doing them without instructor supervision. | |
Stretch & Flex with Denise Austin
| |
| This is also one of my favorites. It is not actually a yoga video; but it does incorporate many yoga-type stretches. I feel it is very good for improving flexibility. It is 30 minutes long. | |
Buns of Steel Yoga with Marguerite Baca
| |
| I really like this video and think it is a very good one for beginners. It is about 45 minutes in length and begins with a good basic instruction in yoga breathing, proceeds to standing and floor postures and concludes with a wonderful relaxation. The instructions are easy to follow and include modifications for beginner as well as the more advanced beginner. Marguerite has a very friendly personality and I really enjoyed the background music also. | |
| Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies | |
| This is a good basic beginners yoga workout as well as a good introduction to the practice of yoga. Fundamental postures are explained and demonstrated slowly with an emphasis on combining breathing and movement. It offers step-by-step instruction for 12 basic yoga postures it calls the "Daily Dozen" and offers challenges and modifications to each of these poses. This video is very good for someone who is completely new to yoga; however, I do feel that after several viewings the user will want to branch out from the "daily dozen" poses. This video is about 50 minutes long. There is also a DVD version that includes a bonus intermediate level yoga workout. | |
| Dixie Carter's UnWorkout | |
| I like this tape very much. Dixie has such a sweet, relaxing way of talking and the postures are fine for beginners. The tape is 70 minutes long, though, and therefore I don't have the time to do this tape as often as I'd like to. | |
| Crunch The Joy of Yoga | |
| This video is more energetic than most beginners yoga videos. I really like it for that reason. I don't feel it is too hard for beginners; it is more challenging than most but it is lots of fun. It also is 30-minutes long which I think is a good length. | |
| Foundations of Yoga: Level 1 with Suzanne Deason | |
| This is a good video for beginners. Suzanne does several poses I haven't seen on other yoga videos. She saves the instructions for the end during the relaxation segment rather than have them at the beginning which may not be the best time for them so it is best to watch it through once before doing it. It is about 40 minutes long. | |
| Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout | |
| This video is broken into 3 sections: but the first is essentially a warm up for the second with the last being a relaxation section. It is best to do all three at the same time. The whole video is 50 minutes long. | |
Gentle Kripalu Yoga
| |
| This is an excellent video and a very good one for beginners. It contains two 30-minute gentle, flowing yoga routines which can be done separately or combined into one complete 60-minute routine. There is also a poster included which illustrates all the postures. The instructor speaks very calmly and slowly and explains the postures so well you don't even have to watch the TV to follow the routine. There are 2 other demonstrators in addition to Carolyn who demonstrate variations. | |
| Lilias Energize with Yoga | |
| Very good for beginners. The tape says it has two 30-minute segments; but it is not easily broken in half, therefore it really is 60 minutes long. I have a hard time finding 60 minutes at one time to do a routine; but when I can find the time, this is a good tape to do. | |
| Lilias Yoga Basics | |
| A very good 30-minute practice session for beginners. | |
| Lilias Yoga Workout for Beginners | |
| This is a complete 30-minute beginner program with the best-known yoga expert. Very good. | |
Living Arts a.m. Yoga for Beginners with Rodney Yee
| |
| A very good yoga program for beginners and one of my favorites. It is only 20 minutes long which I can fit into my day easily. I like to do this video in the afternoon as well as in the morning. | |
Living Arts p.m. Yoga for Beginners with Patricia Walden
| |
| This is an accompaniment video to the above one. This one is a little more difficult than the a.m. version. It also is 20 minutes long. Patricia is very flexible; I have trouble following some of her movements. | |
Living Arts Abs Yoga for Beginners with Rodney Yee
| |
| This is a very good beginners yoga program for firming and strengthening the abs and I like it alot. It is only 20 minutes long which is a good length of time to fit into a daily schedule. There aren't any other yoga programs I've found that concentrate on this area of the body. | |
Living Arts Back Care Yoga for Beginners with Rodney Yee
| |
| This is a very good, 20-minute workout video to help strengthen your back and to reduce back pain. It also includes poses to strengthen and build the ab muscles. It starts with a beginning stretch segment to warm up the muscles and concludes with a final guided relaxation segment. | |
Living Arts Gentle Yoga For Beginners with Suzanne Deason
| |
| This is an excellent video for beginners. It is a 30-minute, complete yoga workout that focuses on the legs, spine and abdomen and includes a 10-minute warm-up, an 18-minute workout for strength and flexibility and a 2-minute deep relaxation. The instructions are very good and easy to follow and I like the way deep breathing is incorporated into each pose which helps to relax and center. The instructor also demonstrates the use of props such as a strap and a yoga block to aid stretching into poses if needed. | |
| Living Arts Lower Body Yoga for Beginners with Suzanne Deason | |
| This tape contains a 20-minute continuous-flow series of postures to tone and strengthen the legs, buttocks, hips and abs. It contains 4 minutes of warm-up postures; 14 minutes of toning and strengthening postures; and 2 minutes of very nice deep relaxation postures. It is a challenging workout and I feel it is not really suited for beginners as it moves quickly from posture to posture with little explanation. | |
Living Arts Stress Relief Yoga for Beginners with Suzanne Deason
| |
| This is good 20-minute video to relax and relieve stress. Suzanne's voice isn't as relaxing as Rodney Yee or Patricia Walden and she does move fairly quickly through the poses. But maybe the pace contributes to the stress relief because I do feel very relaxed at the end. | |
| Living Arts Upper Body Yoga for Beginners with Rodney Yee | |
| This tape contains a 20-minute continuous-flow series of postures to stretch, strengthen, and energize the upper body. It is comprised of sun salutations, back bends, and a cool down, designed to develop an open, supported chest, which in turn promotes healthy circulation, breathing, digestion, and posture. It is a challenging workout and I feel it is not really suited for beginners as it moves quickly from posture to posture with little explanation. | |
Living Arts Yoga Conditioning For Weight Loss with Suzanne Deason
| |
| This is an excellent video for beginners as well as for the more advanced yoga practitioner. It is a complete workout in 45 minutes with a 10-minute warm up, 20-minute standing routine, and a 15-minute floor routine and relaxation section. The workout accommodates all levels of fitness from sedentary to physically active by simultaneously demonstrating 4 levels of modification. I like that it moves fairly slowly and includes instructions for coordinating breathing with each posture. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. | |
| Living Arts Yoga Remedies for Balance with Suzanne Deason | |
| This is a 55 minute video which contains three sequences to balance the mind, body and spirit. The first is breathing exercises that help develop awareness and concentration. The second is standing poses, mostly balancing poses, to develop strength, grace and flexibility. The third is twists, backbends and abdominal poses to create focus and strength. It is a very challenging workout that moves quite quickly from one posture to the next and contains many fairly difficult poses that I think the beginner will have difficulty following. There is a brief demonstration of modifications for beginners at the end but it would have been better to have demonstrated them during the workout. | |
| Living Arts Yoga Remedies for Natural Healing with Rodney Yee | |
| This is a good video for beginners with five 8-minute programs to help relieve or prevent problems such as stress, fatigue, back pain, indigestion and headache. | |
Living Arts All-Day Yoga Workout for Beginners (DVD Edition)
| |
| If you have a DVD player, this is an excellent yoga DVD and I highly recommend it. It includes 3 of my favorite Living Arts videos: A.M. Yoga with Rodney Yee, Stress Relief Yoga with Suzanne Deason, and P.M. Yoga with Patricia Walden. It also contains many additional features such as a guide to beginning yoga poses; interviews with Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden and Suzanne Deason; instructor biographies; bonus music sampler; prop tutorial; and English captioning for the hearing impaired. | |
| Living Arts Total-Body Yoga Workout for Beginners (DVD Edition) | |
| If you have a DVD player, this is a very good yoga DVD to get a total body yoga workout. It includes 3 Living Arts videos: Lower Body Workout with Suzanne Deason, Abs Workout with Rodney Yee, and Upper Body Workout with Rodney Yee. Each workout is 20 minutes long and you can do all three at one time or do individual workouts. You can practice this yoga workout by itself or in conjunction with a regular fitness regimen to meet and exceed your conditioning goals. It also contains many additional features such as a chapter search; a guide to beginning yoga poses; interviews with Rodney Yee, and Suzanne Deason; instructor biographies; a bonus music sampler; a prop tutorial; and has closed captioning for the hearing impaired. They all are challenging workouts and I feel they are not really suited for beginners as they move quickly from posture to posture with little explanation. | |
Living Arts Yoga Conditioning For Weight Loss (DVD Edition)
| |
| If you have a DVD player, this is an excellent yoga DVD and I highly recommend it. It contains the same 45-minute workout as the video above, which is also one of my favorites. It accommodates all levels of fitness and flexibility by offering four levels of modification. The four 45-minute workout variations give you room to improve your level of fitness. With the DVD edition you can access any level workout by selecting either Fully Modified, Partially Modified, Slightly Modified or Complete Workout routines and view that specific person and receive more detailed instruction on the more challenging poses. There are additional special features such as: "Angle" feature allows you to choose your workout level during the program. "Personal Instructor" lets you access detailed instruction on more challenging poses using a simple on-screen icon. "Chapter Search" lets you quickly navigate each workout segment. Bonus 16-page full-color "Exercise, Nutrition and Weight Management Guide" helps you integrate this workout into a more complete weight loss program. | |
